Creative Logos

As a Graphic Designer, I find creating graphic marks or emblem fascinating. These Logos are commonly used by different commercial or non commercial companies, organizations, or even individuals to promote instant public recognition of there self or business. Logos or identity can be a pure graphic (such as symbols/icons), or a compositions of text usually forming the name of the organizations in some creative way.

As an example of my work I have created a self identity packet in which developed my own text logo, using a old English font and my initials, forming a strong creative form.

In this project I developed a range of logos for a local Baltimore Clothing line. Shyo Clothing was created by A friend of mine, which came to me for some creative solutions for his clothing line. I developed one type logo and three different variations of a crest with both images and text.

A project in which I had to redesign a Shepherdstown local shop

Graphite and Ink Drawing

My art is a way to express myself at the end of a long semester. I began looking to music to inspire my work and life, this lead to a number of drawing for class and just help time pass. My first three drawing were of up and coming Hip Hop and Rap artist that could be found on heavy rotation on my iPod. With a different style of rap and hip hop Wale, Drake, and Kid Cudi supplied me with the inspiration and want, to capture them in this creative way.

I created this image by first drawing out the three subjects separated (size 8.5in by 11in each) and then forming this completed composition (size 8.5in by 11in) in which you see today. After seeing the outcome of my work I then started to create a number of other drawings just to develop my skills.

Digital Addiction

web_addict-1
The World Wide Web brings together all types of people, and is constantly growing and expanding every day. We are now experiencing a developing problem with the number of social and gaming sites being created. The unique designs and abilities of these sites are creating a phenomenon and problem called digital/internet addiction. Many may not see this to be problematic but it’s developing real fast as new and more ways to connect your self to different people. According to studies, digital/internet addiction is mainly found among college students living alone for the first time or students living a great distance from family and friends. In some cases of digital addiction, many people have lost their jobs, grades, homes, marriages, and even had car accidents for those who cannot stop texting to the web while driving. Due to constantly surfing the web while at work and school, it is disconnecting them from the more important things in life and a real face-to-face social life. Some people may have a problem with this idea of being addicted, but how many times have you checked your social sites today? Is this taking over your social life? In a week, some people may interact on the web more then they would in person. Imagine if we all had this problem, what would become of our society and what would become of our social life as humans? As of now, this problem is not yet recognized as a major health problem such as alcohol or drugs, but treatments have been developed to help people reestablish their life from the web. eCampus news reported that, “Nonstop video-game playing and web surfing has led to the opening of a new internet addiction center in the United States, and experts on computer overuse say they expect web addiction soon will be treated like any other addiction, such as alcohol or drug abuse.”

So think about it how many times per day are you updating or checking your social site, and how is it affecting your life?

These are some of the most addictive social sites today:

  • Facebook

  • Twitter

  • Myspace

  • MyYearbook

  • Skype

  • World Of Warcraft

  • Oovoo

  • Formspring
